RideSenior is officially introducing an updated hospital service fee and waiting fee policy effective September 4, 2026. This change is part of our ongoing commitment to building a senior transportation service that is fair, transparent, reliable, and sustainable for both the older adults and families who depend on RideSenior and the RideSenior Pro drivers who provide transportation and assistance in the community.

Transportation involving hospitals is often very different from a standard pickup and drop-off. A scheduled discharge time may change, a patient may need additional time before leaving a unit, hospital staff may still be completing paperwork, medications may need to be prepared, or a senior may require extra time to safely make their way from the hospital unit to the pickup area. These situations are common and are often outside the control of the senior, the family, and the driver.
RideSenior understands these realities. Our service was created specifically with older adults in mind, and we do not want seniors or their families to feel pressured simply because a hospital is running behind schedule. At the same time, we recognize that RideSenior Pro drivers may spend significant additional time at a hospital beyond the transportation portion of a booking. Our updated policy is intended to create a reasonable balance between these two realities.
Beginning September 4, 2026, RideSenior will apply a hospital service fee of $15 to applicable hospital pickup and drop-off services. This hospital fee recognizes the additional time and operational requirements that can be associated with serving hospitals compared with a typical residential or community pickup.
| Total Waiting Time | Waiting Fee |
|---|---|
| 0–30 minutes | $0 |
| 31–60 minutes | $10 |
| 61–90 minutes | $20 |
| Over 90 minutes | $30 |
Hospital transportation can require a driver to navigate hospital entrances, locate appropriate pickup areas, communicate regarding the passenger’s readiness, deal with parking or access procedures, and spend additional time coordinating a safe pickup or drop-off. In some situations, the RideSenior Pro may also need to enter the hospital and meet the senior at an agreed location rather than simply waiting outside for an immediate vehicle pickup.
The $15 hospital service fee is intended to help support these additional service requirements while keeping the charge simple and predictable for customers. RideSenior believes customers should be able to understand the cost of a service without having to interpret complicated pricing rules.
Along with the hospital service fee, RideSenior is introducing a new waiting fee structure effective September 4, 2026. The first 30 minutes of waiting will continue to be provided at no additional waiting charge. This complimentary waiting period reflects our understanding that delays are common when transporting seniors, particularly at hospitals, medical appointments, clinics, and other healthcare facilities.
If the total waiting time is between 31 and 60 minutes, a $10 waiting fee will apply. If the total waiting time is between 61 and 90 minutes, the waiting fee will be $20. When the total waiting time exceeds 90 minutes, the waiting fee will be capped at $30.
This means that a customer whose RideSenior Pro waits for 30 minutes will not be charged a waiting fee. If the waiting time is 45 minutes, the waiting fee will be $10. If the waiting time is 65 minutes, the waiting fee will be $20. If the waiting time reaches 100 minutes, the waiting fee will be $30.
The purpose of this structure is to keep waiting charges straightforward and controlled. RideSenior is deliberately using fixed waiting-time ranges rather than creating an open-ended charge that continues increasing indefinitely. The maximum waiting fee under this policy is $30, even when the waiting period exceeds 90 minutes.
We believe this is particularly important when serving older adults. A senior leaving a hospital should not have to worry about a rapidly increasing transportation bill because a discharge process is taking longer than expected. At the same time, it is reasonable to recognize the time of a RideSenior Pro who may have to remain available for an extended period and may therefore be unable to accept another booking.
The first 30 minutes being free is an important part of this balance. RideSenior recognizes that a short delay is often simply part of senior transportation. An older passenger may need more time to prepare, use a mobility aid, receive assistance from hospital staff, reach the entrance, or complete a final step before departure. Our service model is not designed around rushing seniors into a vehicle as quickly as possible.
RideSenior was created to provide transportation with greater patience and consideration for older adults. Providing a complimentary 30-minute waiting period allows reasonable delays to be accommodated without immediately creating an additional charge.
For longer delays, however, the driver’s time becomes a significant part of the service. A RideSenior Pro waiting for 45, 65, or 100 minutes is committing substantially more time than would normally be required for the transportation itself. That driver may also be unable to serve another senior during that period. The updated waiting fee recognizes this commitment while maintaining a clear maximum charge.
The new $15 hospital service fee is separate from the waiting fee. Where applicable, a hospital booking may therefore include the regular transportation charge, the $15 hospital fee, and a waiting fee if the driver’s waiting time exceeds the complimentary first 30 minutes.
For example, if a RideSenior Pro arrives for a hospital pickup and the passenger is ready within 20 minutes, no waiting fee would apply, although the applicable $15 hospital service fee would still be included. If the driver waits for 45 minutes, the applicable waiting fee would be $10 in addition to the hospital service fee. A 65-minute wait would result in a $20 waiting fee, while a wait exceeding 90 minutes would result in the maximum $30 waiting fee.
Transparency is an important part of this update. RideSenior is also strengthening the way waiting time is documented within our service completion process.
When completing an applicable trip, the RideSenior Pro may be required to confirm whether waiting occurred and report the total waiting time associated with the booking. RideSenior’s system can then determine the appropriate waiting fee based on the reported number of minutes and the established fee structure.
The service completion information provided to RideSenior administration is intended to clearly show whether the RideSenior Pro reported waiting, the total number of waiting minutes reported, the waiting fee associated with that time, and the applicable $15 hospital fee. This provides RideSenior with a clearer record that can be reviewed when necessary.
This process is important because we want waiting fees to reflect actual service circumstances rather than become an automatic or arbitrary additional charge. RideSenior expects accurate reporting from RideSenior Pros and may review service information when questions arise.
Our goal is to protect both customers and drivers. Customers deserve to understand why an additional fee appears on a booking, and RideSenior Pros deserve appropriate recognition when a booking requires substantially more time than originally expected.
RideSenior also understands that hospital discharge transportation is often arranged during a stressful period for families. A patient may have been in the hospital for several days or weeks. Family members may be coordinating transportation while working or caring for other relatives. The hospital may provide an estimated discharge time that later changes. In these situations, flexibility matters.
The updated waiting policy does not assume that a delay is the customer’s fault. Waiting fees are not intended as a penalty. They are simply a way of accounting for the additional time required to complete the service.
That distinction is important to RideSenior. We serve seniors, and our policies should reflect the realities of serving seniors. A transportation service designed for older adults cannot operate exactly like a conventional point-to-point ride where a passenger is expected to appear immediately after a vehicle arrives.
Some RideSenior passengers may walk more slowly. Some may use a walker or wheelchair. Some may need assistance organizing their belongings before leaving. Others may be waiting for a nurse, family member, hospital porter, or discharge documentation. These circumstances require patience.
At the same time, a sustainable senior transportation network must also respect the people providing the service. RideSenior Pros use their vehicles, time, fuel, and availability to support older adults in their communities. When a driver remains at one location for an extended period, that commitment needs to be recognized.
The September 4 policy is therefore designed around shared fairness. Seniors receive the first 30 minutes of waiting without an additional waiting charge. Longer waiting periods are charged in simple $10 increments based on clearly defined time ranges, and the total waiting fee is capped at $30. Hospital pickups and drop-offs receive a standardized $15 hospital service fee to account for the additional operational requirements frequently associated with these locations.
We also believe predictable pricing helps families make better transportation decisions. Instead of wondering how much a long hospital delay might cost, customers can know in advance that the waiting fee will not exceed $30 under this policy. The structure is easy to understand and can be explained before a booking when necessary.
This update also supports RideSenior’s broader commitment to transparency. As our network grows, we continue to improve our booking, confirmation, trip completion, payment, driver reporting, and family communication processes. Clear policies become increasingly important as more seniors, families, hospitals, retirement communities, and RideSenior Pros interact with the platform.
Our objective is not simply to provide transportation from one address to another. RideSenior is building a senior-focused transportation network where the circumstances surrounding the ride matter. The experience of a senior leaving a hospital is different from that of a typical passenger requesting a conventional ride, and our service policies should acknowledge that difference.
Hospital discharge transportation in particular demonstrates why senior-focused service matters. A senior may be tired, anxious, uncomfortable, or unfamiliar with the discharge process. A family member may not be able to arrive at exactly the right moment. Hospital staff may be handling many patients simultaneously. A RideSenior Pro may therefore need to be more patient and flexible than would normally be expected in standard transportation.
The new policy allows us to preserve that flexibility while creating reasonable boundaries around extended waiting.
Effective September 4, 2026, customers using applicable RideSenior hospital pickup and drop-off services should therefore expect an $15 hospital service fee. The first 30 minutes of driver waiting time will carry no waiting fee. Waiting from 31 through 60 minutes will carry a $10 fee, waiting from 61 through 90 minutes will carry a $20 fee, and waiting beyond 90 minutes will carry a maximum $30 fee.
These changes represent another step in RideSenior’s development as a transportation service built specifically around the needs of older adults. As we continue to learn from seniors, families, RideSenior Pros, and the communities we serve, our policies will continue to evolve when changes can improve fairness, reliability, and service quality.
RideSenior appreciates the trust that families place in us when arranging transportation for an older loved one. We also appreciate the RideSenior Pros who dedicate their time to providing patient and respectful transportation in their communities.
Our commitment remains the same: to make transportation easier, safer, more understandable, and more senior-focused. By introducing a clear hospital service fee and a transparent waiting fee structure, we believe we can better support seniors while also respecting the time and commitment of the drivers who serve them.
The updated hospital pickup and drop-off fee and waiting fee policy officially takes effect on September 4, 2026, and will apply to eligible RideSenior services from that date forward.
