RideSenior is pleased to introduce a new optional tip feature that gives customers and families a convenient way to recognize the service provided by their RideSenior Pro. The feature has been integrated directly into the customer payment process and is available whether the customer chooses to pay by e-Transfer or by credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Tipping is always optional, and customers may continue to pay only the regular booking amount without adding anything extra.
RideSenior provides senior transportation designed around safety, patience, comfort, and personal assistance. A RideSenior Pro does much more than simply drive from one address to another. Depending on the needs of the passenger, the driver may help the senior enter or exit the vehicle, handle a folded wheelchair or mobility aid, wait while the passenger attends an appointment, communicate with a family member, confirm arrival details, or provide reassurance throughout the trip. These thoughtful actions can make transportation easier and less stressful for seniors and their families.

The new optional tip feature allows customers to acknowledge this additional care when they feel that their RideSenior Pro has provided excellent service. It creates a simple and transparent way to express appreciation without making tipping a requirement. The price of a RideSenior booking is not affected if the customer chooses not to leave a tip, and the quality of service should always remain professional and consistent regardless of the customer’s decision.
Customers who choose to pay by e-Transfer can include a tip in the same transaction as the booking payment. The payment email displays the booking balance, the RideSenior e-Transfer email address, and the booking ID that should be included in the transfer note. If the customer wishes to leave a tip, they may simply add the desired amount to the regular booking total and send the combined amount in one e-Transfer. This avoids the need to make a second transaction.
For example, if the amount due for a completed booking is $60 and the customer would like to leave a $10 tip, the customer may send a single e-Transfer of $70. When RideSenior confirms the payment, the system records the booking payment and the additional tip separately. The RideSenior Pro’s payment confirmation can then show the tip amount so that the driver understands that the customer intentionally provided additional recognition for the service.
Customers paying by e-Transfer should include their RideSenior booking ID in the transfer note. The booking ID helps the RideSenior team match the payment with the correct trip, customer, and RideSenior Pro. Once the payment has been verified, RideSenior can accurately record the amount received, identify any amount above the booking total as a tip, and update the booking’s payment status.

The optional tip feature is also available to customers who choose to pay by credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. The customer receives a secure payment button in the appropriate RideSenior email. This button may appear in the appointment reminder email or in the completion email sent after the RideSenior Pro marks the trip as completed, depending on the booking’s payment arrangement and current payment status.
When the customer selects the card payment button, they are first taken to a RideSenior payment screen rather than being sent immediately to Stripe Checkout. This screen displays the booking balance and includes a field labeled “Tip for your RideSenior Pro.” The tip field is optional and starts at $0.00. Customers who do not wish to leave a tip can keep the amount at $0.00 and continue normally.
If the customer would like to leave a tip, they can enter the desired amount before proceeding. The screen automatically updates the payment calculation and clearly displays the booking balance, optional tip, card processing fee, and final amount to be charged. This gives the customer an opportunity to review every part of the payment before continuing.
A 3 percent card processing fee applies to payments made by credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. The fee is calculated on the booking balance and any optional tip entered by the customer. The payment screen updates the calculation immediately so that the customer can see the complete total before opening Stripe Checkout. Customers who prefer to avoid the card processing fee can choose the e-Transfer option, which does not include a processing fee.
After reviewing the amount, the customer selects “Continue to secure payment.” Only at that point does the RideSenior system create a new Stripe Checkout session using the latest booking balance and the tip selected by the customer. The customer is then redirected to Stripe to complete the secure payment using an eligible credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
Creating the Stripe Checkout session only after the customer confirms the tip helps ensure that the final payment amount is accurate. It also means the system can use the most recent booking information at the time of payment. If the booking total has been adjusted to reflect updated distance, waiting time, parking, assistance, or another approved charge, the payment process can use the latest saved balance instead of relying on an older payment link.
The optional tip selected during card payment is stored separately from the regular RideSenior booking amount. This distinction is important for clear payment records, customer receipts, RideSenior Pro compensation, and internal reporting. The tip is not treated as part of the standard transportation charge, and it is not included when TapSenior points are calculated. TapSenior points continue to be based on the eligible booking total rather than on optional tips or card processing fees.
When Stripe confirms that a card payment has been successfully completed, the RideSenior system records the payment and the selected tip. If a tip was included, it is added to the amount payable to the assigned RideSenior Pro. The payment confirmation email sent to the RideSenior Pro also displays the tip amount, allowing the driver to see the customer’s additional appreciation.
For e-Transfer payments, the exact amount received is confirmed by the RideSenior team. When the amount received is higher than the booking total, the additional amount can be recorded as the customer’s tip. The system can then include that tip in the RideSenior Pro’s payment details. This helps keep the process transparent for both the customer and the driver.
RideSenior Pros receive their earnings through RideSenior’s regular partner payment process. The optional tip is recorded for the assigned RideSenior Pro and is added to the driver’s payable amount. The goal is to ensure that the customer’s gesture of appreciation reaches the person who provided the service.
The customer also receives confirmation after the payment has been recorded. When applicable, the confirmation may display the regular payment amount and the tip separately. This provides a clearer record of what the customer paid and helps prevent confusion between the transportation charge, optional tip, and card processing fee.
Customers will continue to see two payment options in relevant RideSenior emails. The first option is e-Transfer to book@ridesenior.com with the booking ID included in the transfer note. The second option is secure payment by credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. The email explains how tipping works for each method so that customers can make an informed choice.
In the appointment reminder email, customers who have not yet paid can review the available payment methods before the scheduled trip. For a standard pay-after-service booking, the reminder explains that payment should be completed after the driver has finished the service. This prevents the customer from being surprised by the payment process and gives the family time to decide which payment option is most convenient.
After the RideSenior Pro completes the trip and submits the required completion information, the customer receives a completion email containing the final booking details and payment instructions when a balance remains. The same optional tip feature is available in this email. Customers paying by e-Transfer may add a tip to the transfer, while customers paying by card can enter an optional tip on the RideSenior payment screen before proceeding to Stripe.
Bookings covered by an eligible RideSenior Care Plan continue to follow the Care Plan process. If the trip is fully covered by the customer’s plan, no separate payment is required and the payment options are not displayed. Similarly, when a booking has already been fully paid, the customer is informed that no additional payment is necessary.
The introduction of this feature does not change RideSenior’s commitment to transparent pricing. Customers should always be able to understand the regular cost of their booking before deciding whether to leave a tip. A tip is not a replacement for the driver’s regular earnings, and it is not a hidden service charge. It is an optional amount chosen entirely by the customer.
RideSenior also recognizes that tipping customs and personal circumstances vary. Some customers may prefer to express their appreciation through a positive message, a review, a referral, or a simple thank-you. These forms of recognition remain meaningful. No customer should feel uncomfortable or obligated to provide a financial tip.
For many seniors, transportation is connected to important moments such as medical appointments, hospital discharge, dialysis, physiotherapy, diagnostic testing, family visits, or essential errands. A patient and dependable RideSenior Pro can make these experiences feel more manageable. The optional tip feature gives customers and family members another way to acknowledge a driver who has provided thoughtful support during one of these trips.
The feature also improves clarity for RideSenior Pros. When a customer leaves a tip through the supported payment process, the amount can be recorded directly with the correct booking. The RideSenior Pro’s payment confirmation shows the tip, making it easier to understand how the final payable amount was calculated. This is more reliable than informal arrangements that may not be connected to the booking record.
RideSenior encourages customers to use the official payment methods shown in their booking emails. Customers should verify that the booking ID and payment amount are correct before submitting an e-Transfer or continuing to Stripe Checkout. They should not send payment information to an unfamiliar email address or use an unofficial link. RideSenior payment communications are connected to the customer’s booking and are designed to provide a consistent, secure process.
The new optional tip feature is part of RideSenior’s continuing effort to improve the experience for seniors, families, and RideSenior Pros. A well-designed payment process should be simple for the customer, transparent for the driver, and accurate for the RideSenior team. By supporting optional tips through both e-Transfer and secure card payment, RideSenior gives customers flexibility while maintaining clear records.
RideSenior remains focused on building a dependable senior transportation network in which customers feel supported and RideSenior Pros feel valued. Every successful trip depends on professionalism, communication, patience, and trust. The optional tip feature offers customers a convenient way to recognize those qualities when a RideSenior Pro has made a positive difference.
Whether a customer chooses e-Transfer, credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, the decision to leave a tip remains completely optional. Customers may enter any permitted tip amount or leave the value at $0.00. RideSenior will continue working to ensure that every customer receives respectful service and that every RideSenior Pro is recognized fairly for the transportation and personal support they provide.
